In what ways was Amelia Earhart's life remarkable?
Amelia Earhart was idolized by women across the globe. Her accomplishments as an aviatrix earned her a place among the celebrities. Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic ocean, albeit only as a passenger, as her pilots did not trust a woman to pilot a plane. Despite her troubling childhood, Earhart continued to pursue her dream to be the first woman to accomplish something that many had thought impossible, and prove to others that women were as capable as men. However, Earhart is most famously remembered today as the female pilot who mysteriously vanished over the Pacific Ocean in 1937 as she attempted to complete an around-the-world flight.
